‘Orienteering’ is a sport that involves using a map and compass to navigate quickly and accurately between Control points in a variety of, frequently uncharted territory. A topographical map—typically an orienteering map—is provided to participants, who use it to locate control points. India is only now beginning to develop Top orienteers in a sport that has been around for over a century. Orienteering is the ideal sport for any age group to bring out the best in both mental and physical attributes, according to many academics and sports scientists worldwide.
