About IARF

The Journey - What is the IARF?

The India Adventure Racing Federation (IARF) founded in 2024, is recognized by the International Adventure Racing Association (IARA) as the National Governing Body for Adventure Racing in India. The IARF is governed by Athletes and Race Directors who have been in the sport for more than 10 years. The IARF governs and defines Adventure Races across the country as Sprint AR, State AR, National Championship and all other AR related activities across the country.

The Governing council has been part of various international Expedition Adventure Races such as South Africa, New Zealand, Mauritius, Lesotho, Thailand and Philippines and have hosted and raced multiple Qualifier and Regional Adventure Races. The First Indian Team represented the country in 2022 at an International Adventure Rac in Thailand.

Its headquarters are located in Bangalore, Karnataka (India)

Mission

To make a better world through Adventure sports and to promote, develop and lead Adventure Racing in all its forms across nation while connecting the global Adventure racing community and driving accessibility and universal participation in the process of making India an Adventure Racing destination. 

Vision

Connecting communities, National and international athletes, and spreading the values of Adventure Racing through workshops, competitions encouraging healthy lifestyle, collaborative approach and a connection to the environment.

Strategic Objectives

  1. To establish and maintain an international association to promote the interests of Adventure Racers in all its forms throughout the country, to which all recognized Organizations concerned with the sport of Adventure Racing, or its related activities, may gain affiliation.

  2. To encourage the formation of Adventure racing clubs and communities in the states or territories not yet members of the IARF, thus increasing membership across the country;

  3. To promote and co-ordinate the activities of IARF within their own jurisdiction;

  4. To establish rules, criteria and standards for racing, and for organizing Adventure racing. 

  5. To promote uniformity of rules for the regulation of Adventure racing throughout the country, by encouraging RD's to adopt the IARF’s established rules and standards;

  6. To co-ordinate the international activities of National races by providing a forum for arranging international contests;

  7. To organize and/or authorize a member and/or third party to host the National AR Championships, Asian AR Championships and any other international events as decided by the IARF.

  8. To work for the conservation and improvement of wilderness, environments and the protection of natural resources worldwide.

  9. To promote the values of good sportsmanship, Non-discrimination of any form, gender equality, cultural tolerance and healthy living, particularly amongst the younger generation of Sports athletes of the country and the world.

  10. To promote the educational, scientific, literary and charitable aspects of the Adventure Sports, improving cultural and sporting contacts between the Adventure racing nations of the world;

  11. To govern and regulate Adventure racing and other international, continental and regional multi-sports events;

  12. To enter into any contract, association or negotiation for the purpose of giving effect to any of the aforementioned objects.
